Dental veneers improve the appearance of your tooth using a wafer-thin shell that is bonded to the front of the tooth. Veneers are custom-made to fit your tooth and blend in with the rest of your teeth for a natural look.
Veneers are used to correct the following dental conditions:
- Discolored or stained teeth that don’t respond to teeth whitening treatments
- Teeth that have been worn down from chewing and biting
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Misshapen teeth that are too rounded, squared, or short compared to the rest of your teeth
- Gaps between teeth
Dental Veneer Process
The first step of the treatment involves preparing the tooth for the veneer. The dentist will remove a small layer of enamel which is equal to the thickness of the veneer. An impression is then made of the tooth which will be sent to a lab to fabricate the veneer. At the second visit, the tooth will be cleaned, polished and etched to form a strong bond between the tooth and veneer. Cement will be applied to the tooth and then the veneer will be placed. A light will harden the cement quickly. We will make sure that the veneer fits properly and make any necessary adjustments.
Dental veneers do not require special care, although you do want to avoid biting on very hard foods. With proper dental hygiene and regular cleanings and exams, you’ll be able to enjoy your new smile for years to come.
