When Do Baby Teeth Fall Out And Other Helpful Tips
If you have a young child in your life, you know how exciting it is when the first baby tooth falls out. For many families, it usually precedes the first visit from the tooth fairy. Not only can this be an exciting time for children, but it can bring on some nervous feelings as well. Parents can also get a bit anxious and often have questions about their children losing their teeth. We want to share some information about losing baby teeth to help everyone feel better.
When Do Baby Teeth Fall Out?
If you think back to when your child got their baby teeth, there appeared to be no rhyme or reason for when they grew in. The same is true for when the baby teeth fall out. Everyone loses their teeth at different times. The first baby teeth typically fall out around the age of six. Some children may be younger, and some may be older. If your child was late getting their teeth, there is a good chance they will be late losing their teeth as well.
Blood is Normal
Do not be alarmed or shocked if you see some blood when a baby tooth falls out. This is completely normal and is especially common if the tooth was pulled out. The blood comes from the hole that was left in the gums. The bleeding is typically over as quickly as it starts. Have the child rinse their mouth, and they should be as good as new.
New Tooth is Not in the Correct Position
It may seem like the new tooth is crooked or not in the correct position. This is nothing to be worried about. Teeth move frequently and quickly. You will be surprised to see how quickly the new tooth makes its way into the proper place. It is not uncommon for the teeth to appear crooked or crowded. Once the child is of age, an orthodontic evaluation may be needed.
