We always stress the importance of brushing and flossing your teeth for optimal oral health. Do you often notice signs of pink or red when you brush or floss your teeth? If so, you may be experiencing bleeding gums. While bleeding gums does not always mean there is an issue with your oral health, as it can happen on occasion from something as simple as food trapped between your teeth, if you experience bleeding gums frequently, it can be a warning of a significant issue. Continue reading to learn more about what may be causing your bleeding gums.
At Family Friendly Dentistry, we are passionate about the state of your oral health. This is one of the reasons we stress routine hygiene examinations for your entire family. During these appointments, we not only clean your teeth, but we also inspect for other conditions and diseases that can affect not only your oral health but your overall health as well. One condition in particular we inspect for is oral cancer. While not among the most common cancers diagnosed, it still affects more than 50,000 Americans each year and can cause great disruption to your daily life.
Are you unhappy with the appearance of your front teeth and would love to make an improvement? We always want our patients to be honest with us about their feelings. We offer a number of cosmetic and restorative treatments that can improve any flaws. For front teeth, we have two cosmetic treatments that are popular with patients. Either option can improve imperfections like severe staining, chips, cracks, and wear and tear. Continue reading to see if either choice will work for your needs.
At Family Friendly Dentistry, we do our best to ensure our patients have excellent oral health. Aside from treating our patients in our office, we also do our best to educate patients on how to properly care for their teeth at home. We often share the best practices to help develop a helpful oral health routine. Today, we want to take a few moments to discuss some dental habits that are harming your oral health. There are quite a few bad dental habits that can lead to discomfort as well as a dental emergency. These include:
Are you self-conscious about the smell of your breath? Are you someone who religiously carries mints or gum because you always want to have fresh breath? While it is very kind to want to have fresh breath when speaking closely with others, there are times when it is not possible, such as after a garlicky meal or a large cup of coffee. The problem arises when you experience frequent bad breath. This is a warning sign from your mouth that you may have a larger problem with your oral health. It can be difficult to navigate a child’s dental health. Children don’t always brush properly and have a habit of enjoying sweets, gummies, and other goodies that can lead to decay and other damage. The one positive when dealing with a child’s oral health is that parents can try to restrict certain foods or assist with the oral hygiene routine to ensure that a child is cleaning and caring for their teeth properly. We notice more problems arise as children enter into their teen years. Teenagers begin to test the waters of adulthood and push back against boundaries. Since we were all teenagers at one point, we can appreciate the need to find your own identity. However, with their newfound freedom, many teens become involved with friends and activities and forget about caring for their own hygiene, especially their oral health.
Many children dream of becoming adults, looking forward to the freedom associated with adulthood, but being an adult is not always all it’s cracked up to be. Unfortunately, as we all know, adulthood is filled with work responsibilities, family obligations, bills, household tasks, and the list continues on. Adulthood also comes with a number of stressors that can lead to serious health complications. You may be surprised to learn that stress can also lead to a number of oral health complications as well. Continue reading to learn if you are experiencing any complications with your oral health that may be related to stress.
At Friendly Family Dentistry, we continuously stress to our patients the importance of maintaining a proper oral hygiene routine. Most patients assume that preventing tooth decay is the reason we are so passionate about cleaning teeth properly. While this is absolutely true, maintaining good oral hygiene also helps to prevent other oral health issues that can cause a great deal of damage to your mouth. Gum disease is one of these issues. Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a bacterial infection of the gum tissue.
