Important Aftercare Instructions
As much as you might wish you could have ideal oral health your entire life, that is not always a possibility. Thankfully, we have a number of dental treatments available to help you with any issue you may experience. While it is extremely important to be diligent with scheduling and receiving treatment for any issues with your oral health to ensure they do not progress, it is just as important to follow our aftercare instruction for your mouth. Not following our instructions can lead to severe damage to your oral health. Continue reading to learn more.
Why It’s Important to Follow After-Treatment Instructions
Whether the treatment you receive is minor or major, you should always follow our after-treatment instructions. While it is true that everyone will have a different recovery time, failure to follow our instructions can lead to issues like extreme discomfort and damage to your mouth and even cause the treatment to fail. If the treatment fails, you will have the added expense of repeating the treatment or even needing more extensive treatment.
Avoid Eating While Numb
The one instruction that remains the same no matter which treatment you have is to avoid eating while your mouth is still numb. Even if you are cautious, you can still cause severe damage to your cheek, tongue, and lips if you eat while you are not able to feel your mouth properly. Once you are able to eat again, we recommend eating on the opposite side from your treatment until the area is fully healed.
