When it comes to your home oral health routine, brushing is a great start. Flossing, however, is the gold standard. Be sure to make time in your bedtime schedule to do the following:
- Select a dental floss or tape that suits your needs. Waxed, unwaxed, plain, or flavored, the most important thing is that you’ll USE IT!
- Wrap the floss between your thumb and forefinger on both hands.
- Beginning with your molars, gently work the floss between each of your teeth in a side-to-side motion.
- Continue in the same manner on the opposite arch, using a clean section of floss each time.
You may experience some minor bleeding the first few times you floss, but this symptom subsides as flossing becomes routine. Remember to floss at least once a day to keep your gums and teeth health.
